The National Official Business Register REGON
The National Official Business Register REGON was established on the basis of article 41.1.1 of the Act of 29 June 1995 on Official Statistics (Journal of Laws of 2012, item 591 as amended).
Detailed rules for maintaining and updating the register are stipulated in the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 27 July 1999 on the mode and methodology of maintaining and updating the business register, including application, questionnaire and certificate templates and detailed conditions and mode of cooperation of official statistics services with other bodies maintaining official registers and information systems in the public administration (Journal of Laws of 1999, No 69, item 763 as amended).
The REGON register is a currently updated set of information on national economy entities conducted in an IT system as central and area databases.
The following entities are required to enter the REGON register:
- legal persons,
- organisational units without legal personality,
- natural persons conducting economic activities (including running individual agricultural holdings),
- local units of mentioned above entities.
A unique REGON number is granted to every entity.
An identification number REGON is used in official registers and IT systems of the public administration. Bodies maintaining such registers and systems are obliged to enter an identification number and use it when transferring information.
Cases concerning the National Official Business Register REGON, including accepting and registering entry applications, applications to change or remove from the REGON register, issuing a certificate of assigning a REGON number and providing information on ways of registering entities are realised:

Certificates of assigning the REGON number are issued on demand.
